What a hoot! (sorry I couldn't resist). It does seem strange that he is just sitting there on the ground almost as if he is posing for you.

Was the shot taken during the day or at night? Owls are nocturnal creatures, aren't they? This one looks like I feel when someone has woken me suddenly. It's a great image! :-)

Great image. but the highest resolution being only 1024 x 768 is a shame.. 1600x1200 is the prefered size for posts, though 1280 x 1024 is good also. :c)

Thanks for your comments. The photo was taken during the day at Potter Park in Lansing, Michigan. Potter Park works with local zoological societies to rehabilitate large raptors. This one has part of a wing missing, but it hasn't diminished his dignity.

he looks a bit angry, like you disturbed him or something. Or maybe that's just the way owls are that have that angry look. Or he could just be grumpy. :P

how very ironic that u shot a picture of a snowy owl and a place called potter park, when Harry Potter has a "pet" snowy owl. huh. weird. ur picture is very good, and the eyes on the bird look really pissed off. but, maybe all snowy owls have eyes like that.
