I'm not a fan of red either, but agree with Mae in this case, as well. The shape really is very interesting. I can see the bugs, though the centre also reminds me of a flower (bugs around a flower?). It also rather more sinisterly reminds me of some hideous torture device of the kind you sometimes see in museums. Not sure whether the prettiness of this one would be an improvement or not!
Definitely prefer your original interpretation in this case...

humm..I love red, Kat, and for some reason this reminds me of a candle holder, elaborate, but what an interesting centerpiece it would have made on a holiday table :)
