This tree was spotted beside the trail to Johnston Canyon Lower Falls in Banff National Park. I have no idea how and why it grew like that, but I liked the "S" shape since my name begins with an "S". The sun was real bright that day, so I apologize for the colors being a little washed out.

What an interesting view and tree. Makes one wonder how it got that way. Well captured and nicely posted. Thanks for sharing this one.

i saw this in the new image gallery and from the thumbnail i knew exactly where it was:P. I took a very similar picture, with someone sitting in the first curve there. I'm now on my way to your gallery to see if you have others from the canyon.

I just had to stop and comment on this, I've never seen a tree like it. Very funky, thanks for sharing it.

Cool photo. The tree may have been caught under another tree's branches until it got big enough to spring free and then continue to grow straight?

That is definitely a great shot! I have various shots of it from over the years,(as I am only a couple hours away from it) Glad to say that it still looks the same.
