I need some input on this shot. I broke the center out of a dead leaf and took the shot through that hole, just as an experiment. I think the sky looks a little washed out, but I'm on a laptop with an LCD screen, so everything looks brighter. Let me know what y'all think. Comments desired (begged for!).

You know. I really like the idea of experimenting. I do it all the time. I think that this was composed perfectly through the leaf. I think I may have liked it better if it were just the sunset because it looks like such a beautiful setting and I almost want to move the leaf so I can see what is left of the photo. I don't think the sky is washed out, maybe a tiny bit, but not enough to make a difference. Great shot. Thanks for sharing.

God has created fantastic beauty for us to photograph and fantastic photographers to bring out that beauty in unique ways.

I looked at this and i think it is very cleaver, and great idea and no it is not to bright. if it was brighter it would have been a pure shot well done.

I don't think this is too bright either, but a great idea for a nice frame of some other shot.

The sky is not a bit washed out to me, quite the opposite! I am on a tabletop flat screen monitor. I do appreciate the mini-discussion on your sky because I think I sometimes get my posts less saturated than other people prefer and I've been thinking that the difference in monitors could be the issue.
Your post is absolutely lovely, and I like the creativity of the torn leaf. However, I'm with rriesop (above), the sky looks REALLY interesting in the upper left corner and I want to see more of it. Also, on my monitor, the leaf edges are blurred and is therefore a distraction (I was thinking, what IS this?). I think you should continue the torn leaf idea...(or any other natural aperature, of course) but see if you can get your leaf and subject both in focus (which means a small, close subject, I suppose). The water in this pic is super, I love the center ripple, as if a fish had just jumped, and the sky reflections leave the viewer wanting more.

This is awesome. I saw this and was instantly envious. I have always wanted to capture a shot like this and you did an amazing job. The composition is very commendable. Nicely done :)

Good idea... it looks you are very expressive person :)
Photo is good, not too bright, not too dark. It would be better if you use DSLR camera, not a high-tech compact camera.

I can see what you were going for here and it's good to try new stuff but I think this would have looked great without the frame actually. The colours are great and I love the ripples from where something hit the water.

I think you should do more work like this, maybe have more of an opening with the leaf or object youre shooting through. Thing is, the black areas are blurry.. If you like vignette try out the free photoscape program and use the filters on there. Awesome editing, that is what I used for my Chittenango Falls picture and its all FREE. photoscape.net Hope this helps
