This one actually strikes me very much the same way as tbhockey's "Vacant Sound." The grit and stillness makes it beg to be played.

Not at all... I think the dust and such adds to the image. Gives it the slightly worn, "play me, already!" look.

This photo is my personal favorite from the Music contest. I was glad to see it get an honorable mention. It is simple and dark so it makes a good background.

If you hadn't said I don't think I would have guessed this was a guitar... it looks to me like some industrial machine sitting in a pool of oil (I guess that shows how musically inclined I am...) Anyway congrats on your placing in the comp. Hopefully I can get my act together and enter the next one.
