Decades ago I sold architectural glass and glazing for a living. I encountered several installations where new glazing elements were added to old structures, sometimes very old. I found the contrast interesting: simple lines not adding or subtracting from the old construction. (I'll bet, however, many would disagree with me.) This is a view of Heidelberg Castle, Germany, and you can see in the center that the builders, below ruins in the remodeled part of the castle, used just such a juxtaposition. I think it works. The top of the Renaissance part of the castle is visible, top left.

I took the liberty of doing a quickee edit on your shot as shown here. Basically I added some color saturation, sharpened the shot and added contrast to bring out the textures and got rid of that white sky as well as the overexposure in that central window. They say a picture is worth a thousand words; so this is probably the longest critique you'll receive in awhile.

I'm from Peoria. Where is west central Illinois?

This brings back memories of visiting the castle many years ago. To get a good view of the castle, try the philosophers walk across the river. Maybe a little saturation might work but it is fine as it is.
