This young woman is a Lakota Indian. She is 16 years old and has been dancing since whe was three. She made this costume herself. The dance she is doing is called the "Butterfly Dance". At Pentacost, the birth of the Church, we have the gospel read simuntaneously in as many languages as we have available through our parishoners. This year it was read in twelve different languages. The dancing was part of a larger program with American Indian dancers and drummers and a large group from Kenya playing drums and singing in their natrive language. The service is always topped off with the release of Doves as a sign of a prayer for world peace.

I got so interested reading your intro I almost forgot to download the photo LOL. That would have been a shame because this is a well-executed human-interest shot. It’s a shame about the railing across the bottom but I doubt there is much you could have done about it. The shutter speed is perfect, it’s frozen the young lady but left movement in her gowns. The colour is great and there are enough props behind to tell us that this is a religious event. It’s very well done.

There are three colours, Ten digits and seven notes, its what we do with them that’s important. Ruth Ross

This picture is so full of life and the pentecost service sure looks like a fine service. The costume she is wareing is a very colourful costume, I am sure that the dance would have shown it off very well.
