Patti, as promised here is what the inside of the Colosseum looks like. Pity you didn't get to see it while there. You can see the tunnels below from which the slaves/gladiators and sometimes lions and tigers were moved, out of the site of the spectators, before their appearence.

thanks Paul! that is really amazing! I wish I had made plans to see it on my last day! my plans when a bit askew on that day I think! lol! I would loved to have stood there and imagined! This is an excellent capture, not just a tourist shot like you said! well done!

I was there in '95, and didn't get to see the inside. It was closed the day we went to see it. Bummer! I'm glad you posted this shot. Very nice.
