Discovery on it's way to the ISS. Great news that the launch was a success despite the various delays and a crack in the protective foam layer. Credit: NASA/Sandy Joseph, Robert Murray

Wow - hot off the press! Great shot of the lift off! God bless Discovery and all on board her. I pray for their safe return. This photo is bound to be a desktop favorite for many. Shame we all couldn't be there to see her go!

Phenomenal capture! I was watching the liftoff on NasaTV (online). It blows my mind how the shuttle can enter space in 10 minutes. That is incredible... and the fact that we can watch the entire trip on TV or PC... what a great age we live in! Nice work.

Thats one hot ride going up there! ;)
I was 8 years old when the first man walked on the moon and I still remember that day/evening back when. Launching a rocket with a space capsule with humans aboard is nothing to take with a grain of salt. Sad to say but for many, the NASA program is just a 10 sec sound bite on the News anymore. I hope those astronauts do good up there. thanks for sharing this photo with us----Tim
