The chollas are just beginning to bloom here in southwestern New Mexico. Their magnificent flowers are in the look-but-don't-touch category, being so well defended by needle-sharp spines that even the bees fly in carefully.
Beautiful capture of this bloom. Colors are very well defined. Contrast is well. Lighting is perfect. Well executed. I think ill avoid picking this flower. I treasure my fingers. LOL.

Very intriguing looking flower! The colors are amazing the way that they twirl and swirl on the petals! I like the duality with the big thorns and the soft petals side by side. Very fascinating study in textures. Well done and thank you for sharing this with us David :~)
