I looked out my window and caught this shot (camera always at the ready) with my new Lumix camera and was impressed with the intensity of color. I hope you like it.
Just a note. The "fog" is actually virga or rain that is falling but not quite hitting the ground before being re-evaporated into the cloud. The club below is the Snowmass Club if anyone was wondering. What a great place to live.
Wow Peter, I think I can see Dorothy & Toto...they are "somewhere over the rainbow". Sorry, couldn't resist! What an amazing capture. This looks very UN-real (compliment to you). You do live in a wonderful place. The virga gives the whole image a mystical feeling. Good detail, quality & color! On my HD, high marks & thank you.
yes the landscapre is quite gorgeous!^^ like the clouds shadows... and my god, how did you managed to capture this rainbow so well! fantastic shot Peter^^
thats fantastic. i love it! the colours and scenery are fantastic. the rainbow is so bright, only thing i would say is the house on the right is kinda annoying, but there is no way around it. why didn't you cut out the bush on the right?
Rainbows are very pretty, and this is no exception. I saw a rainbow yesterday, but it was gray and cloudy out, not a good background for a rainbow. This makes me happy!
WOW very very beautiful shot! very impressive! I absolutely love rainbows! Great job capturing it's beauty! And the view ain't all too shabby either ;) Thank you for sharing.
I just caught another rainbow...great summer for them. It's an amzingly bright double rainbow that I'll upload shortly. Keep your eyes out. Of courese it's in the exact same location beause we always get the rain in the evening.
Wow! I am happy that this is featured right now. This is one lovely rainbow shot. I have to agree with all the kind remarks above and envy the view from your window. Now I have to hunt for the double rainbow that you mentioned ...
MomMary, it's the location. I live at 8,500 feet in the rockies where the air is very clear and the rainbows are magnificent. We often see full double rainbows, from one side of the valley to the other. I think that's one thing John Denver loved about this valley. From his home on he looked up valley toward magnificent Mount Daly, a particularly beautiful mountain with a stone chevron across it's East face.
Wow.. amazing shot.. The colors of the rainbow showed up great on this picture. I love the landscape background too. You have a very lovely view outside your window = )
Great job!
I love this shot too. I can't help but wonder what it would look like in 32 bit hdri! The huge dynamic range posible with a dozen images shot at different exposure values combined would be awesome.
Hello Peter::I too love these rainbows..here in Oregon in the Willamette Valley where I live, there are often double rainbows spanning the whole valley, the problem is that I am usually driving thru and I cant capture the whole thing on my Nikon. I NEED a new camera thats for sure. I keep wishing for the Canon RebelXT...one day a wish will come true I hope . I love this shot of yours, the softness is the best thing. And that bit of rain did that..I love photo taking on "gray" or moist days..The natural filter is fantastic. And the sun//shadows are wonderful. I had not noticed this photo before..so even tho I'm late in commenting...Im still enjoying your shots very much..verena
