When we lived far from our home in Aspen, my wife started a tradition of building an Aspenlike village under the tree to remind her of home. This Christmas, safely back in Aspen, we continued the tradition. This is her village and my train on christmas morning 04

Who's the manufacturer of the houses? I love the way they glow. And your passenger car is wonderful, I've not seen one like it.

We got the houses from various sources and brands in California and Colorado. They ranged in price from about 10 dollars to 1.99. All are made in China (big surprise) and we have 38 of them. The village is really a lovely sight on christmas morning...but no room for presents under the tree. They were mostly were delivered in very large stockings hung by the chimney with care or piled on the buttet.

Oh, and that's a trolly car, there's also an old "Jupiter" steam engine with the funnel stack.

What a lovely tradition. This is just about as different as it can get to a hot and humid Sydney Christmas! I shall keep this for next year to cool down my PC! lol. ;)

This has a spirit. And it is surely reflecting christmas. İ liked it a lot. Personally i think that some piece of curtain as a background for the village would have a pretty effect on the village. But as it is, it is my favourite. Very nice work; both for the shot and the village. :)

This is very pretty. I'm sure the picture doesn't do it justice. I bet it's more alive and vibrant in person. Very nice tradition. Best of luck to you. :)

What a charming idea! My mother has started collecting the little village pieces in the last few years, I'll have to sugest this to her. Especially since there aren't any toddlers around any more!
