I put this together after experimenting with the new 3ds Max 8. It has nine layers and was a lot of fun to play with. I hope some of you will try it as a wallpaper. Please comment.

Now you can't possibly tell me you made that space ship yourself?? It looks like it would take months... I like everything about this except the lens flares on the ship, they are really too bright and prevent me from seeing it properly (unless that was your intention??)

Okay, you caught me. I made a mistake on the ships body by accidentally moving a big pipe to a bad spot, so I covered it up with the lensflare. The rear flares imply engines. An awful lot of the impressive detail on the ship was done with the trick of bump mapping. The actual polygon model is a bit simpler than what you see rendered. If I had taken the time to carefully bevel many of the edges the ship would be more impressive as it would catch the light more convincingly. I just wanted you to suspend disbelif for a minute or so.
