This is purely a 3D image to evoke a feeling of isolation in the mountains surrounded by clouds. I created the god-rays to highten the feeling of spiritual closeness to a higher being. I hope you get a feeling out of this image. I must say it's fulfilling to visualize a natural scene and then create a picture of it. Vue6 Infinite was my main tool. The temple may have been created by Eran Dinur, who's Vue work has inspired me. The temple model comes with Vue 5 Infinite.

Beautiful job here. I love this effect it really is a true art of which you are the master. I have so much to learn yet and this just spurs me on. Love it.

I can't believe it's not a real place, but then again, I guess it could be if I wanted it to...lovely work.

I like the way the lighting strikes off the clouds - thought it was a photo at first (though a slightly manipulated one with the sun rays added later).

very natural... truely impressed by the rays of light and the way the light/shadows are perfectly done. The circles on the left, and 2 bright spots are a nice touch- gives it a real photograph feel.

Outstanding, Peter! I love the light rays and, indeed, you've created a feeling of isolation with the mountains and clouds. Very nicely done! Wen

Great image. To some degree I feel the rays are perhaps a little too overpowering.

You got me hook, line and sinker. I thought this was a photograph until I started reading comments and then looked at the description. Nicely done :)

Hello Peter...this is for sure a very elegant creation. The colours are very sensitive with that little tint of blue coming thru the rays. And they are totally capturing the little place in the sky...beautiful architecture. Even the clouds surrounding it point the way to the beauty of the structure. Very nicely done, Peter, but then you never do anything not nicely done..bravo on this one..verena

What can I say...I kind of agree with Sam on the Sun being a bit overdone. But I wanted to get a kind of real-surreal effect.

ZOMG how long did it take you to construct that!?!?!

This looks so cool with the whole mountains in the background thingy but ... it doesn't overthrow my halo desktop wallpaper that i made a few days ago :P (jokes).

With my little experience in 3-D rendering, all i can infer is that you're:

1) incredibly talented
2) very patient
3) have lots of spare time

Looks like a Default sample scene that comes with Vue?

After a little research.

You don't know me but I have an awkward question. What are your views on taking someone else's creation, moving the camera and the sun position, rendering the scene, posting it on the Internet as your creation and not mentioning the original creator? My reference is below.

http://www.3dvalley.com/gallery/v/eran-dinur/Tien-Shan.jpg.html created by: eran dinur and included in Vue6 as a sample scene.

I would suggest editing your image description, giving the creator credit for the scene you used.

I resent your implications buzzzzzzz. I built this scene from scratch in Vue 6. Every mountain, rock and cloud is original. The temple I used comes with Vue 6 as a sample bit of geometry. That's it. In fact, my image looks very little like the one you reference. I've done several shots inspired by the sample scene provided in Vue 5, but to imply that I'm using eran's scene is simply wrong...and annoying. If you'd look closely you can see the scenes are entirely different. They don't even use the same atmosphere system. Implying that I just moved the sun and camera is completely in error on your part. A small apology is in order.

okay, I just went and looked at the reference image that Buzzzzzz gives and I have to admit that it does look a lot like mine. But if you look at the mountains, plants and rocks you'll see they're quite different. I used the original scene as a tutorial last year. But the image above was created a year later using Vue plants (which I made the needles too large if you look closely. ) The cloud system in Buzzzz's reference image were made by texturing cloud material onto c transparent polygons. I used a volumetric cloud system that I prefer. I spent a lot of time shaping the mountain in the background using the geometry paint tools...you can clearly see it's not the same one in the reference image. I had no idea that I came so close to the original image, but my work is original. So Buzzzzzl, I can see why you feel the way you do and no apology is needed, but I hope you can see where I'm coming from. I was inspired by the original and more than a year later, wanting to experiment with volumetric clouds and god rays, I built a new scene, using the Temple provided by Vue as a center piece. The textures on the mountains which are hard to see are original also.

I agree with DigitalFX, there are lots of models people made and distrubute for money or for free that thousands of people use. Just because it uses the same model does not make it the same scene.

Anyways great image, love it.

thanx GunnerMan. But from now on if I use someone else's model I'll note it if I know who created it.

good sport, fx. I looked at the image that buzzzzz gave also. the mountains didn't match, and neither did the clouds, but i did have to swap the image back and forth once or twice to realize that. good job.
keep up the good work.
