Well, I decided to go ahead and do a little more than just edit the levels of contrast ^.^ While I was working on it, I really wanted to bring the scars/wrinkles out on the face. I hope everything looks ok!
I love what you have done so far to create this image. The levels adjustment is great and has more closely joined the images. The image is showing two different sources of light which seems unrealistic. The sunlight appears to be coming from the left in the background beach while the light appears from the right on the king. Great imagination on this one:-)
great job all round both on the original and this one. wouldnt worry too much about the light sourcing just tell yourself he's holding a torch (flaming presumably) out of shot :-)
Really like this one. ... A lot better than the other one, though I liked that one too. Nice colors.. or color. haha. and I like the cracks on the guy's face.. Adds.. depth.
Also you really improved the backround!.. I love it.

My lonely image: The Eye of the Beholder's Cousin
"Love starts at home: family first then the indivdual then your town. its easy to love people far away, but it is not always easy those right next to us. I do not agree with the big way of doing things. Love needs to start with an individual." -Mother Teresa ( But in my opinion whever there is world crisis it is wise to give.)
Very cool! The image definitly gives off strong emotions. I think the picture portrays great age and sadness. It also projects a very real sense of loneliness. Masterfully done! Where did you get the original picture?
Bethany this is really dramatic. The face looks like a statue because of the cracks on the surface and your shading. The cloth framing the face, the slightly downward gaze and the backgraound are all moody elements. I also like the nimbus clouds flirting in the background. Lovely.
