"God is really only another artist. He invented the giraffe, the elephant, and the cat. He has no real style. He just keeps on trying other things." -Picasso This is a shot in the dark...I know a lot of you guys don't like when the whole animal isn't shown in the photo. But, this was a shot I took with my zoom lens in the zoo...I thought the textures were so interesting! It is an elephant...I was going to upload it into the animal category but I thought textures was better. Hope you like it! -Laurel

i think i prefer it like this, instead of the entire animal. it makes it much more interesting before. i love how you capture his trunk, that curve is just perfect and it reallly shows off more of that incredible texture. i really like the black and white, very dramatic looking. and i like how you placed him off to the side and not right in the middle, much more interesting again. really a great capture, and i really like that quote also. great work! ~abby

This is great, especially in gray scale because the textures of the elephants skin are perfect for gray scale. I love the bits of grass clinging to the top of his foot. Great photo, Lauren

This brings the focus on to the texture and shadows in the elephant's skin. Reminds me of an old joke that is no longer politically correct about visually impaired gentlemen trying to identify a pachyderm by touch alone :) I like it.

I love your perspective Laurel! It's nice to see something very different on here! Great job focusing on a part of the animal we often overlook.

Great work! This is such an interesting picture you took! It looks so more interesting than the whole elephant and so nice on the side of the picture and not right in the middle of it! Very well done!
