These tomatoes were piled outside of a store in a farmers market area at a pier in San Francisco. They were so pretty in a huge mound like this...I don't even like tomatoes that well, and these looked delicious. They are heirloom tomatoes to boot! We did an exercise in painting class where we had to draw oranges without using circles...the filters I used on this remind me of my results from that exercise. The original photo may develop into a painting soon! =) I would have uploaded the original if it had turned out better...but I was only carrying my small camera which doesn't take good quality shots. So I thought the manipulation was my best bet.

you know what Laurel... a lot of times with manipulation like this i've seen people destroy what could have been a beautiful shot to begin with.. but i really like this! I think it gives an ordinary subject an artistic feel. I also like how the tomatoes form a path from the bottom left to the upper right corner of the frame.. it leads the viewer's eye across the entire shot. Great work, friend!
