The warmth of this shot, Edoardo, is not just from the light, which appears to be late-day, but also from the character we see in such a close-in photograph. It's also in the intricacy of the mosaic work in the two steps in front of the door, in the bright flowers that stand out in the subdued light, in the mail slot I see on the far side of the door's stone arch, the detailed iron support of the light on the wall, in those unusual grooves in the street (drainage? a cart path?), and even in the ivy wrapping itself around the more modern drainpipe. This close-in photo tells how these people live and the pride they have in the beauty and uniqueness of their town. It's a combination of humanity and history, the antiquity of the buildings reflected by the wide array and haphazard position of the wall stones, with the exception of the perfect arch around the door. A perfect shot, Ed. They don't come any better.
How beautiful those arched doorways are, along with the lovely flowers and greenery. What an interesting pathway too, with the curves across it. I think you have really brought the true old Italy in this lovely photo. Thank you so much Edoardo.-Verena
Well done! The shot is framed very well, and your composition is flawless! Some would say that you might have used an image editor to flip the image horizontally, so the lines lead in left to right, but I find that I am odd and personally prefer them the way you have them. :) Well done!
