The abbey church dedicated to St. Mary's was consecrated by Pope Innocent III during 1208. Throughout the thirteenth century Fossanova reached the pinnacle of parable of its own artistic religious fame. It was built the church with its cloister on which rotate the refectory, the room chapter house, infirmary of the monks and the abbot's house where died in 1274, St. Thomas Aquinas, now buried in the crypt. Outside the Infirmary (now utilizes for cultural activities), the guesthouse (currently see of the Medieval Museum) and the remains of what was the hospice for pilgrims. Enjoy.

St Thomas' book, 'Suma Theologia' is, of course, a seminal work of medieval logic and metaphysics. Nice image.

Ed - I'm not sure which is more significant - the history or the architecture. The scene is wonderful. Of course, your use of lighting is magnificent, enhanced in post-photo to bring out the wonderful details of the cluster of buildings in this historic abbey. The vertical lines of this photo leads the eye toward the tower and the brilliant sky. Excellent work my friend! Thad

The flower boxes give this one a nice touch of color. I always enjoy the way you allow all the details of a scene to be sharp and clear.
