Alatri a majestic city with polygonal walls, anciently was the Ernici main point, an Italic people belonging to the group Osco-Sannitico. After having entered in contact with Rome during the royal period (fifth century, BC) and later with Bishop nominated during the Christianity was a domain of powerful Conti Family then later on possession of the Papal States. The Acropolis complex, is among the most impressive and evocative buildings.
