...as in idea. I'll let you decide if it's done.

A photo of some dried up earth baking in the hot summer sun. Perhaps it's a simple puddle drying up after a rainstorm. Or it's a dried creek bed following low water levels. Or it's a farm field suffering after a prolonged drought. Or maybe it's something else.

Just doing some thinking outside the box. It was getting crowded in there and hard to stretch out the legs. Not to mention hitting my head on the chandelier every time I'd go in for a jump shot. This will be my entry in the water contest. I'm sure there's water in this photo someplace. Then again my shorts are feeling kind of soggy after sitting in that box for so long.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed.

A couple of things, Wendell....

1) When have you ever thought "inside the box"? Most of your comments are barely human as in living on a different plain of existence. If you were on Star Trek, I would say that their had been a transporter malfunction.

2) If there was a little shale in this mud, I would say that you had been in Atascadero. Looks more like fudge to me, but I haven't eaten supper yet and still have to take Ollie for walk #2.

3) Where's the bench?

4) This is a sure fire winner in the "Water" contest. Could also have won the "People" contest.

Excellent shot. I'm trying to get away from my comfort zone of noisy fog shots. You have that rare ability to find a shot where I wouldn't even look. No noise. Excellent California colors. Dare I say "sharp" focus? I see your footprint in the upper right. Adidas? Way too much saturation on that weed. :-)

Wendell - I tried to put this on my desktop, but my computer put up a warning dialog: "Caution: This image may crack the screen and clay dust may enter through the keyboard and damage the processor and hard drive." That issue does not detract from the creative capture with its crisp color, lighting and clarity. Thad

I think this is a great entry Wendell. I had something like this in mind but now don't have to bother with it.

Textures are really great. Sometimes people who think outside the box end up in the bottle.

It's done alright, real done and it's a super image. Great color. You can see where it's been wet last.

Good for you, Wendell. A neat shot, and a real jigsaw puzzle.
I've only seen this kind of baked earth in the USA, SouthWest.
Death Valley, to be precise. I like this colour better.

Well, I see the 'water' contest is starting out with a bang... although I'm a little scared if I add water to the image it might expand too rapidly, crashing the entire site.... Kidding... just kidding...

I have been kind of expecting that all the participants will do most weird things on the subject of 'water', but yours surely - as the weirdest - has got all the chances to win !! LOL
Really, I enjoyed watching the image and had fun reading the comments !!!
Good luck, dear Wendell.
