Nearly everything you've read and seen so far is a lie. As this is neither a road nor was it dark when the photo was snapped, but it is a forest or at least an area where the trees outnumber most everything else. I didn't have the time or inclination to verify that assumption by counting every possible species of plant and animal in the area. And this is about as close as I'm getting to a dark street for the foreseeable future.

Now down to the nitty gritty details. Obviously I removed the first version and you know why. When I originally edited the image it looked "okay" to my eye on the computer monitor I did the editing on. The same image viewed on another computer monitor looked too light. So some further editing was done to darken things up. Again it looked "okay" to me. But for some reason the upload on the site came out way too dark losing the details in the shadows. So I spent the better part of the day re-editing the image and viewing on several source screens to come up with something that should appear satisfactory. It's not as dark and shadowy as I wanted, but it will have to do because I ain't touching it again.

Enjoy and your comments welcomed again.

This turned out beautifully Wendell - realistic looking moonlight and the tree highlighted perfectly - should do well in the contest.

Magnificent rework - a lane walk I wouldn't do in that dark. This would be a excellent entry to the contest.

Emptiness is not nothingness. It is simply the opposite of full of it.
