One nearly hit my windshield the other day as I was crossing a bridge. They nest here every October and generally leave here at the beginning of April. Where they go NO one knows for sure. Some Biologist say Yellowstone.
Only Alaska Has more breeding pairs of Eagles than Louisiana. Just the area where I live there are over 150 mating pair within 100 Square Mile area. I know because I worked for the State Dept. of Wildlife an Fisheries for over 20 years.

Elm tree makes a wonderful background for this majestic bird... Beauty of an image, dear Holly. In Poland [BTW eagle is Polish national emblem sign = bird wearing the golden crown] we only have some eagles in the south unless I am wrong. Being short-sighted all my life [and not wearing glasses !] made me stick to sparrows whom I do know and who never surprise me :) SAM & SAAB
