This was tricky for a couple of reasons. First the direction of the sunlight. This was the only available time of day for me to take this picture so I was stuck with that parameter. Then the bronze mailbox with it's subject matter was another issue.Do I show the dogs face and leave out the boys or vice versa?? If I balanced them both out equally then I have to point the camera somewhat into the sunlight which would wash out the image.I decided with the boys face and the backside of the dog as you can plainly see:):):):) Of course I had to go and cut off the very bottom of the dogs bottom but hey I isn't perfect....yet;):) enjoy.

It is probably just as well that we can't completely see what the dog is doing to the post BB. I think you did great considering the parameters. A nice garden scene.

Thats quite a mailbox post!!! Really beautiful and you did perfect with your capture Bruce. You made all the right choices as far as I'm concerned. And I love the framing!!!

It's a good shot, Bruce....but it could be better without a number of minor distractions that could be cloned over. Most are at the base, around the dog. I'll send you something to illustrate.

When you're done with the book do you mind if I borrow it? I promise not to bend the pages. I take it you don't get much mail with the dog vigilantly patrolling the mail zone. A good looking capture and scene.

I like the photo it is natural looking and the detail you captured is a 100%. Love how you captured the blue reflections in the boys body and the light and shade is lovely.

I wish I had that mailbox!
Re the tricky treatment...I think you did very well!
In addition, have you thought of just showing Just the mailbox in black and white? Might get more detail without taking away much....????
