The second in the series. This time with a blue hue to the background and an awesome reflected sunlight from a cunningly placed mirror. These skim stones were found by my three year old son on a beach in Dawlish, Devon (UK). The other pic in the series is found here.

Very cool picture, very zen-like. I like this one a lot better than the first. It reminds me of a video short put out by Sensei Studios called "Balancing Point". Check it out here to watch it, I think you'll enjoy:

I like the blue background and I agree that the reflected light helps, I like it and hope to see more of your exploration into this.

I hold it true that thoughts are things; They're endowed with bodies, breath and wings: And that we send them forth to fill the world with good results, or ill. That which we call our secret thought speeds forth to earth's remotest spot, leaving it's blessings or it's woes like tracks behind it as it goes. We build our future, thought by thought for good or for ill, yet know it not. Yet so the universe was wrought . Thought is another name for fate. Choose then thy destiny and wait, for Love brings Love and Hate brings Hate. - Henry Van Dyke.

Your son really knows his skipping stones!! I am in agreement with the comments above. I like this view much better and you've really made the whole thing come alive with this difference in lighting!

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon

This is a simple yet interesting photo, the only thing I think I would like to see you change, is not to cut off the bottom stone. It's a bit distracting, and I think it would have been lovely to see you place the stones right onto the sand with even a bit of water under them. Other than that I do like the idea.
By the way, welcome to caedes, I know you'll like it here.Verena

Thanks Verena. The only issue I have with what you said is that I had taken the stones home (a couple of hundred miles from Dawlish) and set up the shot with a sheet of A4 paper as the background and the stones sat on top of a pot of lipgloss to get rid of the floor. I can image the shot that you were thinking of and it would be nice to be able to do it. Maybe I'll start to carry the stones around with me to get some more interesting settings.
