Castle Solitude in Germany was built as a hunting lodge between 1764 and 1769 under Duke Karl Eugen of Württemberg. It is not a true castle, but rather a rococo palace. See another view here.
I'm still working on technique for the night shots. This is one of about 50 shots from different angles. The view of the valley from the hill behind me is breathtaking, too.

Hi Chris,
first of all thanks for commenting on >More Fiction and Reality.
I like your picture a lot, in particular the colour combination of the building against the blue sky creates a great effect. Also impressive is the yellow light coming from the lower arcades.
What I find is a bit of a problem in this picture is that while the centre of the building seems to be clear enough, the wings appear to be a bit out of focus when looking at the image at full size. What camera did you use? Did you have a tripod?
Another thing that - but this is my personal taste - I would prefer to see differently is the angle of view. The one you chose gives well the impression of an majestic building but I find it a bit "static". If you have the opportunity to repeat the shot you could try a partially side view like the top one in the >Wikipedia page dedicated to the Schloss. That one is in my view a bit more "dynamic" and the size of the building is less overwhelming.
Overall it's a great night shot, many thanks for sharing it. I look forward to seeing more pictures of yours.
