A different angle of Schloss Solitude on a dark and overcast night. The new tripod and using the timer on the camera have reduced the blur at the edges of the frame. See another view of the Schloss here.
This is _much_ better in my opinion! Great atmosphere and you have captured it superbly. The image is also a lot sharper. The tripod was not wasted money obviously. There is some noise in the darker areas which could be improved using the lowest ISO value (automatic mode probably chooses the highest) but maybe this would not allow you to use the timer. I had rather keep the noise than lose sharpness. For the rest I like the of point of view, which I find gives a good sense of depth.
Toll gemacht, ciao

this is excellent Chris! That is the only way I manage to capture night shots is by using a tripod and timer and sometimes I just use walls or any firm surface I can find - the photograph I took in Salzburg of the bridge at night was taken using an adjacent bridge as a tripod! lol! well done on this one!

I haven't ventured far into night shots, but I have to agree that even my daytime shots are far superior when I use something, anything for a tripod, and low light shots such as this...well, I need to get a remote too. At least if I use a timer, I'm not touching the camera to make it shake at all, and my camera has an adjustment on it, which you probably know about, that actually stops the mirror shake inside the camera too. So I don't have any excuse for any blur at all in my pics, but you'll find some ::LOL:: I love this pic.
