Yeah, he knew I was there alright. He'd made me snap the shutter early when he moved his leg...then he gave the profile thinking I wouldn't be ready...but I was. Enjoy! Comments and critiques always welcome...

Also a great shot, so sharp and clear. The only thing I do not really like about those birds is, that their eyes are so cold. I noticed this several times.

I never noticed that about the eyes, but this is the first time I've been that close to one...you're right...the eyes are kind of feral looking. Maybe he wasn't posing...he might have been trying to lure me in...;->

well at least he is not staring at you with those cold eyes Chris! lol! I love these birds - they are so freaky - I have just been for a walk by the lake at work and there is a heronry in the middle of the lake (on a small island). They are so interesting to watch ...and they make a lot of noise! Very good capture and I like the frame!
