This enormous sandstone sculpture of a resting Father Rhine is located on the "Great Terrace" of the Castle Gardens on the east side of the Heidelberger Schloss. I've also posted a detailed view.
This really fine photo puts him in perspective. What a beautiful statue - quite a work of art. It's now on my list of places to visit next time I'm in the area. LOL! ~Mary~
I am probably afraid that some spectator will not understand my photography - therefore I proceed to make it really less understandable by writing defensibly about it.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

I thought it was 'old father time' - someone stole the name! lol! What an exhibitionist he is lying there in the garden! I am not sure I like the statue very much, but your photograph is very good Chris - I like the spouting water and the depth of colour in the walls and the plants!

In Vienna we have sculptures of the Danube, looking that way. And I read that there is a sculpture somewhere in Germany, where the Danube is a little child of Rhine and another river. Depends on where you are, huh? Great image. I think he looks as if he enjoys just being lazy.
Thank you all for your comments. I apologize that I wasn't able to thank each of you personally for taking the time to view and comment on this post. Time is pressing me at the moment, and though I will still post comment as I'm able, each will be sporadic for the next month or so...thanks again, my friends!
My comments will be hit and miss for the next month or so. I'm preparing to return to the U.S. on 1 Aug and will be on vacation until 20 Aug or so...I will be checking though and I look forward to your great shots! L8R...G8R
