I went for a walk today at Lettuce Lake and on the boardwalk I heard a bird making a racket! I had never heard this call before and it sounded perturbed, whatever it was. I slowly made my way around the bend and saw a great blue heron standing on a log making the most awful noise. It was unusual. A moment later I saw why...a small gator popped out of the water and even though the alligator couldn't take on the heron, the bird screamed at it for a moment then flew away. I'm sure there were some avian curse words in whatever it was saying. 02/01/17.

Alex, I didn't see the gator instantly, so I enlarged your image twice the size of a full screen image, and saw the 'rascal' just left below of the two turtles. Amazingly capture, my friend, accompanied by a very funny narrative.
Good work! Thanks for the excitement (even behind my screen, ☺ )!

I'm sure there were some curse words in there. Look at that Clint Eastwood glare on the heron's face! The turtles look none too happy either.

What a terrific scene to find yourself at and observe. Thank you for sharing!

Just as the heron was patiently waiting for a nice fish, that dang gator made an appearance - it's pure theater out there at Lettuce Lake Alex lol - hopefully the gator went on his way and the heron eventually got his fish - Great Capture and Narrative!!!!!!

This is a very good shot especially as you got the head of the gator too. The curse words at least brought you to the scene.

What a great capture Alex - A blue heron, 2 turtles and the gator - not a combo I've seen before - nicely done!

The turtles don't seem to mind the young gator's presence. The heron, gator and turtles coexisting in the swampy waters makes a terrific image.
