Thanks to my girlfriend for giving me a flying lesson as a birthday gift. I finally got to go up yesterday for about 30 mins and fly a Cessna 172 pictured here. I have been studying for years, reading books, and playing flight sims, so I had a really good idea how most of the plane operated, but I have never physically been up until yesterday. I loved it! The instructor was impressed how much I knew and realised that I had a passion for flying. I am not sure if I will continue my lessons since they are so expensive, and this was an intro flight to get my feet wet. You never know though. I got to fly over the Gulf of Mexico a bit and get the feel of the controls.

Sounds like you had a good time and fun with regards to your flying lesson Alex - I, too, am interested in flying and have used simulators - one day I hope to get up there too. Hope you will be able to have another lesson soon!!!!!!!!!

Alex, if you've told me this before, think I've captured you in action during this flight in order to get a picture from my 'People In The Air' series. I'm kidding of course because the distance prevents me to do so. Know by own experience however, that is has been an impressive experience. See by your capture that you're still impressed, my friend, ☺ .
A very good one. Thanks!

I am also a great fan of Flight Simulator and have had all the versions of FS up to FSX. I look up in internet which are the difficult airports for landing like for example Paro airport in Bhutan with a smaller jet plane like Bombardier CRJ 200. The cockpits of most planes including the Boeing 747 are familiar to me. So we have something in common Alex.

Nice photo with the Cessna.

You could try radio control. That's what I do. It's a lot cheaper but certainly not the same.

Now that is really cool Alex, my brother learned how to fly in a Cessna also, then he became a test pilot for the X15 fighter jets.

What a wonderful experience you had and thanks for sharing this amazing memory and for the email with the picture.
