This was taken by our back patio October 2017. We haven't seen any more of our reptilian friends in quite some time. One day one will show up until someone complains or a rival gator challenges him.

Having read your posts concerning these gators before, Alex, you seem to have a solid respectful relationship with them... a very good proposition for the gators. I have only seen them in zoos and preserves so I find this shot to be quite impressive. The focus, coloring, exposure, and composition works very well but could you not have talked him into turning around 180 so the light would be more complimentary? [op

Great capture, Alex, The textures on your reptile friend really pop. Like the light and shadows going on in there.

By reading your narrative, think that even gators have a vacation from time to time, Alex, ☺ .
Like 'Nik', I'm impressed. If one should appear at my back patio, think I was in panic and would have called a SAR (Search And Rescue) team, not to rescue the gator, but me.
Impressive capture, my friend!

What a great shot! Not only of the aligator, but also the really beautiful colors in the reflections of light across the ripples in the water.

Any idea why he rests with his mouth agape, Alex? Is that the aligator form of panting?

He/she Yes, I am not going to get close enough to determine the sex, I know how to, but anyhow, the reason they have their mouth's open is to regulate body temp.
