Picture of Norris Geyser Basin at Yellowstone National Park i took a few years ago. Norris is like the sleeping dragon of Yellowstone and the most restless area of the park. In recent years the ground underneath Norris has lifted up as the magma reservoir underneath fills! Very ominous :) Comments welcome and appreciated.

If you look closely you can see trees that have a slightly odd shape. That is a result of the trees being immersed in clouds of sulphur and other noxious chemicals. A burning coal vein, ignited by lightning and burned for many years, produced a similar effect on nearby pine trees in a spot in southwest North Dakota, aptly called "Columnar Pines."

My family and I swung through the north part of Yellowstone on the way back home a number of years ago. We didn't have time to explore much and now, thanks to you, I get to see what I missed. Time for a return trip, I think. Nice shot.

A nice capture of this scene and a good view. I like the colour tones in the photo.
