After a very constructive comment from Eubeen (otherwise known as Wendell) i have gone back to this image and tried to improve it. I have reworked and edited it in several different ways and may have to sacrifice it to the substandard bin but i thought i would give it another go first. As per Eubeen's advice i have tried to balance out the colours to eliminate the blueish tint across the first upload and also balance out the shadows/midtones/highlights to get rid of some of that haze. As well as this i have increased the sharpness a little. Please let me know if you think i have managed to improve on the first attempt.

Since I did not see the first posting, I cannot give you my thoughts on the comparison. But I do like th composition, the colors, and the sharpending was done. Tigs♥ =^..^=

Nice rework, good job clearing up the haze. A much cleaner view with sharper lighting than the first version.

Holy smokes, Rachel. Rule #1: Don't listen to anything that Wendell says unless he's giving advice about which kind of circular saws to use for digit removal. :-)

Actually, Wendell gave you some good advice. I know he's a devotee of PhotoShop. Is that the same software you're using? I use PhotoFiltre and especially RedynaMix if I'm trying to cut through fog, mist and haze and generally doing any sharpening. I've been accused of over-editing and that's probably because I'm still leaning ReDynaMix which can be touchy.

The rework is a vast improvement over the original. My main suggestion would be to cut back on the amount of sky. Although I continually make this mistake, it's a good idea to minimize the amount of sky unless it adds a great deal of drama to the shot. I'm leaning that the same thing can apply to the foreground if it looks about the same. Sure is beautiful country. Check out this.

Rachel, it's often a dilemma. Accept the image as it is taken, try to improve it with a photo-editor or post a rework after you have posted the orignal one when getting an/some improvement advice(s). All possibilities have their own adventages and disadvantages. For me the choice is more easy as all my images are taken in RAW. I have to given them at least 'basic editing' in order to convert them into the uploadable PNG format. What one can see often as well is the phenomenon that there will be rather different advices after uploading a rework. See that Roger is the only one up till now and I tend to agree with his advice. But what to do when others have a complete different meaning?
The decision is up to you and not how other ones like to see your image. That's my advice.
Very good rework though.
Regards, Cornelius.
