I want to like this one more ... I think ... think it could be one of two things that is detracting from this very good macro ...

The flat light in the central portion may be the biggest culprit, and two ... perhaps, as I am partial to the greens you captured in the background area that are contrasting quite nicely with the flowers' colours ... I might simply suggest more of.

The details on the inner bloom are really quite good. Don't think you need to adjust the DOF ... so, my second suggestion above is probably nullified by the fact that you seem to be spot on in that regard.

Uh ... that was no help, was it? Oops.

Let's go with number one and call it a good image. (Hope that doesn't sound overly critical, as I do not intend it to be.)

That central portion of the flower is the show stopper as I'm sure you intended, but the pink petals and green background are putting on a lovely show of their own. Great macro work, Randy!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
