The B&W here is perfect choice. It does give it a cold feel but only add to the mystery of the place along with the fog. The framing is good. I might have kept the grey shadows (or make more prominent) along the right edge as there is too much blending into the frame but that is just me. Great shot.
*You will have noticed that I haven't been commenting as much on your fine images!..This is because of the pains in my hands!..the constant use of the keyboard, makes this difficult..so, my dear friends..I can only apologise to you all in advance!*

Where did I put my fishing pole? I love how you did this in B/W & the composition is right on again. Framing is perfect too. Outstanding work Randy. Saved & faved.
Dang! Randy this is gorgeous. Black and white was just the ticket, as it allows us to see the lines and the plays of light without the distractions that color brings. Beautiful, beautiful image my friend.
absolutely gorgeous and into my favourites! You can see the mist rising from the water - it even moves a little if you stare at it! B&W is perfect for this image R!

Perfect for b/w with the contrasts and the many lines. This is very moody with the mist and the tree on the right and your softened border acts like part of the ambiance. So nicely done, Randy. Faved.
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Gads, this is gorgeous! It looks like it could be in an art museum. Perfect in the b/w tones which gives it a soft feel. The mist rises like steam from the lake. The tree (to the right) stands out sharply. What can I say - a most artistic scene, and thanks Randy :^)
That is one HOTTTTTTT photo! The black & white is fantastic for this shot. Its filled with drama and yet has this most wonderful tender and lonely feel to it. I love that..It actually gives me shivers to look at this. I can almost feel the whole time of day...I love that kind of crispness in the air. Sometimes when I go to the beach over here I feel that also...something about the salty ocean air here. Thank you hun for such a most intriguing photo!! many hugs to ya..verena
What a fabulous shot. I love the mist on the water it gives the picture so much atmosphere. One question is it 38 degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius? We use Celsius over here and that would make it about 102 Fahrenheit! LOL!! Excellent shot.
Several of my photos are available for purchase in larger format at Shutterpoint, and some are also available in high quality framed prints at http://djholmes.imagekind.com/
Wasn't hard, as this is a standout photo in my mind.
Really, really ... really well done Randy.
I like this one a lot.
And something that has been on my mind in the form of a question; what are the advantages of a conversion over shooting in B & W originally? And I don't know the answer to that one. :o|
Maybe I'll post a discussion thread to see what our resident experts have to say on the subject.
That aside ... your critique request ...
Pixel numbers suggest some cropping to me, so I don't know if this could be accomplished ... think as a DT, works fine now ... my preference would be bigger please. Fill in the space with more of the actual image. No real slight against your framing intended.
The 'back lighting' matte? Or portion thereof?
Given the visuals of your photo here ... simplify it. More 'precise', is what I am saying here ... literally, if this is a outer glow or similar effect.
Such a pristeen (not talking mood or feel here) image deserves cleaner lines for this aspect, in my humble opinion.
So, the only ... only caveat I have is with the framing. Simplify that facet and this would be kicked up or at least a better marriage of subject and framing would be accomplished ... again, in my humble opinion.
This is a great shot. Well balanced composition, good clarity and detail ... atmospheric is the operative descriptor in a word.
Excellent ... and but of course, thank you for sharing your efforts and talent. I appreciate being able to view images like yours here. :o)
