The Missouri Department of Conservation raises thousands of trout in the fish rearing pools located near the head of the Spring. Small fish are hatched at other state hatcheries, transported to Maramec Spring and placed into the rearing pools.
The fish are fed 3 times each day. They will grow almost an inch each month in the cool spring waters.
When they are approximately 12 inches in length, they are stocked into the Spring Branch. Hundreds of anglers spend many pleasurable hours in pursuit of these trout.
Even if you aren't a fishermen you will enjoy tossing feed to the fish and watching them come to the surface. Fish feeders have been placed along the rearing pools for your convenience.
Any and all comments and critiques welcome!!
