Cynlee wanted to see a straight shot from my Canon S2 IS to compare against the Missouri State Capitol - West Face taken with the Panasonic.

Here it is, unaltered other than to resize from 2592x1944 to 1600x1200.

180 DPI...Bit Depth - 24...Focal Lenght - 6mm...F/2.7...1/20 sec...hand held...no flash.

Just a degree or two off. Other than that, this is a great look at this wonderful building. I also like the glow on the stairs.

It is diffcult to compare the two as this (to my eye) is a far more pleasing viewpoint, taken closer.
The glow of the steps lighting and the slight rosy glow on the dome which I think may be the setting sun makes this one an excellent shot.

You got 6mm from the Canon? I think both shots are great and I always liked this one a lot when you first posted it, but it is difficult to make a comparison when the angles and the distances are so different. You already got rid of the Canon, but what I would have done, if I had been able to, was set up a subject and place each of the cameras, one at a time, on a tripod or table and shot the subject under almost identical conditons and camera settings to make a very fair assessment of their qualities. Just like they do here. Being that it is not an option now, I think that when you change Camera brands, you can always expect some differences since the sensors vary from brand to brand and what you get is not necessarily a lesser image from either, but 'different' images. I always ponder whether I should have gone with Nikon instead of Canon, but I had to keep my budget in mind too and I came to the decision that what I really need is a new photographer! lol Anyway, if it makes you feel better, read THIS.
I think you made a good decision, but if it keeps bugging you, then go and buy back the Canon and have TWO wonderful cameras. (One for the Mrs.) :)

No trees were killed in the sending of this message. However, a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. Everyone has photographic memory; some just don't have the film. COME ON YOU GREENS, UP THE ARGYLE.....
