It does look somewhat menacing with all those spikey, pointy thorns. Dang roses, always 'budding' in looking all cool and 'hip' and showing off in front of all the other "lesser" flowers! Oh yes, Murderess - I couldn't agree more! :)

-Mike

Get it? Budding, rose hips. Cheap I know but I couldn't resist.

Did you mean the frost? The image takes on a certain poignancy because it looks like the rose bud centers a cross.

We used to paint the milkweed as decorations when I was a young lad Rocker. Yes, they had paint back then. The b/w takes me back to that era. Great post.

a bit of symbolism here, perhaps? I realy like the "noir" feel of this. have to say, though, the "bumpy" frame really takes away from this.

Please, even if you don't visit my gallery, check out my "Faves".I've left them intact since day "1", and would like it if every image there got the attention they deserved.

Beautifully composed and very dark yet soft. makes you want to stay away but reach out and grab it at the same time. Great Work.

I guess the thorns are the reason behind the title! It has an air of mystery! love the b&w!

I too like the noir feel and as a hater of frames have to agree with Rob. The picture itself is excellent with good use of deep dark shadows to create the feelings so well described above show off the thorns in the light. I don't understand the title either.
