Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

Ooh, love that silky smooth melting pot of wild and vibrant colors! I've seen your first version which is just as cool, but commenting here cuz I like this one a tad better. Is this a manipulated fractal? I'd love to see more of these :) Fantastic work!
