You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

Uh...yeah!! That's NICE!! Again though the DOF seems a wee constrained which cuts off some detailings. Nice 'n' lite framing this time draws the viewer into the works in which to enjoy the fancifull color offerings!! Purrrfect placement of the piece leads to a superb desktop wallpaper!!
Well, now Cindy would know what it is, so I'll go with cornflower too!! And Randy supplied even more beauty to this image with his description. Nicely done, my friend :)

did a little research for you...as I have these in my garden as well....they are called "centaurea montana" or "perrenial bachelor buttons" or "mountain bluet" .... and a very beautiful flower it is...thanks for sharing Jan...

"Imperfection is beauty; madness is genius & it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. And when it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm really better than them."--Marilyn Monroe
Gorgeous gorgeous - and centurea montana is correct :) I have them growing too and have attempted many shots of the open flower - they never turn out well. Now why did I not consider a bud?
Probably because I would never produce such a lovely shot as this - the contrast of the green and purple is lovely. Super work.
I have seen some of those punks in the woods of Upper Austria too. I like your close up with that fantastic DOF. Great eye for a motive and fantastic work on the photo.
