"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
"Imperfection is beauty; madness is genius & it's better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. And when it comes down to it, I let them think what they want. If they care enough to bother with what I do, then I'm really better than them."--Marilyn Monroe
Agree with the comment above Jan, this is stunning. The colour of the Houses of Parliament at night is spot on, and the way you've got the light coming from the windows of all the buildings is just brilliant. I reckon the JD was the inspiration ;-)
Thanks to all my friends for the wonderful images I get to look at and learn from on Caedes every day. I always have something to say about them, but don't always have the time to record it. Please forgive me if I can't comment on all of your uploads.
Just excellent Jan. Into the faves. I really like the overall composition of this one. So much too look at and enjoy. I especially like the reflections. The sky is great contrast with buildings. Hope you do well in contest. Excellent post.

I knew it...I knew it...when I had this one in the VB I thought it could be one of Jans shots and I was right and it looks great, very dramatic with those cloudes hanging above the Westminster:))
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

"The more we come in contact with animals, and observe their behaviour, the more we love them, for we see how great is their care for their young." - philosopher Immanuel Kant
Yikes, sinister! Nice mood for the piece and good framing. Nice touch of yellow-green to the street lights and Big Ben face against the strong red-toned building lights. Definitely added to the mood.
Hey there Mister Madman, wat'cha know that I don't know
Tell me some crazy stories, let me know who runs this show
Glassy-eyed and laughing, he turns and walks away
Tell me what made you that way
Oh Jan! This is just awesome! I love the colours of course, and the drama of the nightsky. I've been to Westminster Abbey..and have never forgotten it! Thanks for the memory and the wonderful photo, ya did good my friend!! Verena
I'm a huge fan of night pictures especially ones like this. But so far, this is one of the best night picture I've seen. The reflections on the water and the city lights is wonderful. The sky too is wonderful. I have never seen a picture that totally absorbs me. It feels like I've been sucked into a vortex. seriously. This is really an amazing shot.
