On the Bradford trip, we went to Kirkstall Abbey which was completed between 1152 and 1182, Kirkstall Abbey still stands substantially to its full height, its massive structure presenting a unique example of early Cistercian architecture. Although its community was disbanded in 1539, it has continued to attract the attention of increasing numbers of visitors, for no other building so completely illustrates this early period of English monastic life.

This is really great! I love the angle you have taken these arches from and the way the light catches them, which highlights them even more! Well done!

I wondered what would happen with all of you shooting at the same locations, but every one of these shots from that day are unique. I guess that's not surprising!

Love the color and shadows here.

OK Jan, 'fess up, that has to be more than one exposure, surely? To get that much information from light to dark, or are you one of those lucky folk who work with RAW data and can get more info than us poor jpeg bound digital beggars? lol. Love the shot, gives a real sense of being inside the architecture.

Well I'm unforgivably late commenting on this and lots of others, but I've had a hell of a week since getting back. I'm really loving seeing what everyone's seen and photographed on the trip and this one's outstanding. I was talking to you while you took this I think and I can't believe the colours, textures and shapes - there's an amazing sense of the brickwork crumbling away. Who'd have thought a shot like this was possible on a day like that!

That's quite an educational commentary too Jan~ I didn't know all that and I was there, lol! Thanks for the info, very helpful :)
