We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"
Hello you, sorry for the lack of comments I've been away for a few days and am back to 160 comments :-( I love old sepia photos like this, I didn't know you were old enough to have taken any? As for your ancestors, yes they stand out a mile - the four people in front are sitting on them aren't they. Mind you they really do look like they've got the hump ;-) Travel must have really been something then eh?
I do like the atmosphere of photographies from those times when people first explored these ancient and exotic places. Thank you for this masterpiece. I faved it...

As said above, travelling to Egypt wasn't that easy as it is now. Amazing to see that your relatives (?) are fully dressed up for this photo.
Great post Jan, and keep the original on a safe place as it's a time-document.

What an interesting picture Jan! - a real antique! ....and what a contrast in dress between the Europeans and the Arabians.
...now which are your relatives? - I guess those are the ones in the turbans ;) .....well at least that was kinder than the ones that Nigel was referring to! lol!
thanks for sharing - really enjoyed looking at it!

So very great Jan. Did you scan the photo or take a photo of the photo? Love the matting. Such a great shot of your relatives. You are lucky to have this photo in your family.
