Even then photographers were grappling with the black and white over/under exposure.

I love the pith helmet with the feather! Can't be seen in public without the best decoration of the day.

If you did anything to preserve this photo, good job! If not, then it must have been stored very carefully.

Hello you, sorry for the lack of comments I've been away for a few days and am back to 160 comments :-( I love old sepia photos like this, I didn't know you were old enough to have taken any? As for your ancestors, yes they stand out a mile - the four people in front are sitting on them aren't they. Mind you they really do look like they've got the hump ;-) Travel must have really been something then eh?

As said above, travelling to Egypt wasn't that easy as it is now. Amazing to see that your relatives (?) are fully dressed up for this photo.
Great post Jan, and keep the original on a safe place as it's a time-document.

What an interesting picture Jan! - a real antique! ....and what a contrast in dress between the Europeans and the Arabians.

...now which are your relatives? - I guess those are the ones in the turbans ;) .....well at least that was kinder than the ones that Nigel was referring to! lol!

thanks for sharing - really enjoyed looking at it!
