Great capture Jan of this historical bridge. Suppose that the bridge became famous after the movie 'Bridge over the river Kwai'. I was a youngster when I saw this movie the first time, but nowadays it's still impressive to me. Thanks for this impressive post as well.
Regards, Cornelius.

Stunning Jan, I must print this out and send it to my uncle Roy, he was a POW who worked on this very bridge, he's well into his 80's now, but I'm sure he will love this.

Thanks Jan.

Mark.

I like shots like this, with a sense of the past and a very strong structural composition. I think this is a respectful treatment of a memorial to such barbarism. Nicely done Jan.

Nice take on this Jan. I know what you mean about not wanting it sunny pretty given the sacrifice and treatment of the men who built the bridge. I think you have done very well.

The sepia tones work well on this perspective shot...the angle is right on, I feel like I'm crossing it right now!

Very nice lines of this old metal bridge. It almost looks like it is meant to provide service for two gauges. Excellent perspective and tonal range.

Someone mentioned to me a while back that one of the marks of true art is whether or not it touches someone and/or whether it not it tells a story. You have succeeded on both counts here. The perspective here and the marvelous balance makes me feel as if I could step right into the picture and walk across the tracks...or I suppose if I were unlucky a train may come the other way and drive right onto by keyboard!

Sepia is exactly right for this shot, and the clarity adds great depth. Simply a superb post.

Cool lines in this, Jan and a good choice on the sepia. Now you've got me whistling the movie's theme song and it will bug me all day.
