i wanted this picture to look old as a sunny pretty image seemed kind of inappropriate for this shot. i used a tutorial provided by bob toned images thanks bob). information about the bridge over the river kwai can be found HERE
Great capture Jan of this historical bridge. Suppose that the bridge became famous after the movie 'Bridge over the river Kwai'. I was a youngster when I saw this movie the first time, but nowadays it's still impressive to me. Thanks for this impressive post as well.
Regards, Cornelius.
Stunning Jan, I must print this out and send it to my uncle Roy, he was a POW who worked on this very bridge, he's well into his 80's now, but I'm sure he will love this.
This Image GRABBED my EYE. That's Why I Stopped By.
Thanks For Sharing ! The happiest people don't have the best of everything.....they just make the best of everything they have.
I like shots like this, with a sense of the past and a very strong structural composition. I think this is a respectful treatment of a memorial to such barbarism. Nicely done Jan.
Been waiting for one of your artistic offerings and I am not dissapointed. Very much like your choice of perspective and the post work is spot on imo. Such a strong composition as well. Nice work Jan.
What a great shot and it is one of my favorite movie theme songs. It was a great movie and this is a great shot. How lucky you are to have been there. Great post Dimps.
Nice take on this Jan. I know what you mean about not wanting it sunny pretty given the sacrifice and treatment of the men who built the bridge. I think you have done very well.
Always remember - Follow the Yellow Brick Road, it will lead you to the Emerald City and OZ A very nice place to be. Trust me on this one, I live there. The Lion **** MY CAEDES GALLERY****Another Site I'm AT - MY DA HOME PAGE
Someone mentioned to me a while back that one of the marks of true art is whether or not it touches someone and/or whether it not it tells a story. You have succeeded on both counts here. The perspective here and the marvelous balance makes me feel as if I could step right into the picture and walk across the tracks...or I suppose if I were unlucky a train may come the other way and drive right onto by keyboard!
Sepia is exactly right for this shot, and the clarity adds great depth. Simply a superb post.
