Think it's a matter of taste Jan as both images are very good to me. Thanks for sharing another wonderful post.

The serenity posed by the flower amongst the busyiness is what struck me in the original version. I liked the twinkle of the b/g lights and the colour of the original better as well. As the above noted, it is a matter of personal taste. Good job on both counts Jan.

Great looking shot. Judging from the score on the other, it was accepted very well. This is just as good. Nice post Dimps.

This doesn't have the feel or flavor, if you will, of the original post for me. Still quite nice but I like the original much more -

I like both presentations, but I really prefer your first one. It has a truer sense of what happening around the orchids. All a matter of taste, I suppose!

Hmmm. I think I like the first one because of the sparkly lights caught in the glass table top. I think the toning down of the color in the flowers was a good idea, then again, maybe not. I don't understand why to move it to the right though. I'm going to stick my neck out and say I like the first one better.

Lovely dreamy quality. BUT... I think I disagree with the matter of taste analogy. Both are beautiful. I was trying to decide if I my opinion was colored by seeing the first one first.....Everything about the first seems special and inspired. Where this one is merely lovely. I think your first instinct was the inspired choice. As stated above the contrasts of the city lights accenting the natural beauty of the orchids.

I think this is beautiful with great focus on the orchids and a dreamy look to it. I like both your uploads and I think both are very good shots with different qualities.

such a wonderful and interesting capture. orchids are my favorite flowers. i generally don't like pictures of flowers because most of them don't capture the softness of the petals or the smell, or the delicacy... but there are exceptions and this is one of them. the orton helped a lot for the softness of the photo, just like an orchid's petals. and the dark misty stuff in the background - it's just like its scent. great photo!

the flowers are the focal point and the background is the framing - excellent shot Jan ..the only thing I would be tempted to do would be to straighten the building on the left lol! ....I know I am a pain when it comes to lines and horizons, but it is not really important in the shot as it is part of the faded background and not meant to be clear! love it anyway!
