Beautiful pic, but I prefer the swan, that was the right decision. :)

And the Lord spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

I prefer this one Jan, but I realize at the same time that it's just a matter of taste. Another very good entry for the contest.
Good luck again!
Regards, Cornelius.

This is a beautiful composition Jan - I love the ferns on the path between those magnificent trees. (As for the contest, I think your chances are better with the swan - it seems like a winner to me.)

Both are fantastic Jan. Either one would give those picking the winner fits. Nice work.

I like trees and the effect is really stunning in this one Dimps. I am an elected official so I would have to say that while some are trying to save the Spotted Owl and also recycle to save on the destruction of trees, and some are constantly introducing new fibers to replace feather in pillows and stuffing in general, it is of my opinion that further tests and studies need to be done. We need to appoint a committee to look into the consequences of each. Next question please.

The swan is tops!!

This is nice, but the whites are a little harsh and the comp askew a wee with the right most tree not being locked into the frame more so. Pretty place I'm sure, but I hope you went with the swan...that's what I'd vote for.

While this has wonderful contrasts and contrast between low growing ferns and very tall trees and is quite nice, the swan is the better choice with all the lovely ripples in the water.

Yes you did. This is lovely, lots of detail and nice light; but doesn't have the same draw as the swan image.
