For in and out, above, about, below,
'Tis nothing but a Magic Shadow-show,
Play'd in a Box whose Candle is the Sun,
Round which we Phantom Figures come and go.
From Edward Fitzgerald's Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam
It is known that there is an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them to be in. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the product of a deranged imagination.
Love this one, very simple and makes me think of the desert in the US for some reason. It would make quite a catapult, wouldn't it, if they ever decided they wanted to demolish that old house!
Hey there...now this is right up my alley Jan! I have a real love for barren trees such as this. They somehow just tell their own story, I suppose they remind me of driftwood. It's a beautiful photo. I am enjoying the other gnarly tree in the background and the soft sky. Showing that huge building is great too, it gives a wonderful perspective. Nice job. Verena
You seem to have used the same effect as in Big Tree, is it a slight sepia?, anyway for me it seems to contradict the death and decay in this picture with both trees, it's just too smooth. This is minor, even for me, the picture has perfect proportions as usual, but it seems a little like you are pushing the something from not much bit here. I only say this because you are so bloody good I expect perfection every time. There again, perhaps it is a grower, as I sit here pondering it. Hmmm, I may have to come back.
i love the pic but i found out that tree was made to look like that by tree surgons, doh!!! and there's me thinking it was natural , good shot though missus as always x
