I went for a short drive (turned into 8 hours)up through the countryside and ended up in the mountains, decided to take a look at Bunya Mountains in Queensland Australia.. About 3 years ago (last time I visited) was a lush moist rainforest full of native animals and birds.. We are in the worst drought in history here and it's taking its toll on nature, after a 2 hour walk I didnt see any animals at all (not even a snake), birds were few and the once damp ground was so dry it crackled under my feet... Enjoy (while it's still here)

Thank you for sharing this priceless area with us and I hope that it will turn itself around and become lush and green again with the sounds of animal life and it becomes a rainforest again. sandi

Very pretty AB but also very sad, hopefully things will get back to normal or everyone (animals too) everywhere will suffer.

You capture this very well and it shows a bit of the story to put across!.....

A lovely peek into this forest Jacqueline.
How tragic though that it has been affected this way with the drought.
I remember a day long tour I did in one of your rainforests - what iI remember most is the lovely birdsong we heard, how sad to think of it almost silent now. I was petrified of the snakes though, we saw only one but it was a bigun.

Very nice capture of this rainforest Jacqueline. It really is a terrible shame that the drought has has so severely depleted the resources in your wonderful part of the world.

Hi J,
I certainly know what you mean, the drought situation truely amazed my wife & I earlier this year during our stay in Australia. This brings back memories, the kind that do not raise a smile. Thanks J.

What a shame Jacqueline that such a lush & beautiful place is so affected. I hope the end of the drought is not too far down the road for you.
