I liked the rich colours in this sunset and the feint 'Light Pillar' ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_pillar ) caused by ice particles in the atmosphere, heralding the oncoming winter months so I had to share.

WOW Jay, this is really beautiful. Love the colours of the sky and the striking contrast of the silhouettes in the foreground. Maybe you could clone the pole out, but still this is a marvelous posting. Congrat's - just viewed that website about Light Pillar's and thanks for the heads up.

The colours in the sky are beautiful and anything silouetted again that is always going to make for a stunning shot! Good one!

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom i trust". Psalm 91: 1 and 2

Such a awesome photo. I too would clone out the pole. That is a bit distracting and taking away from the rest of the wonderful scene. I myself love silhouettes. Bravo on this great shot.Verena

I think anything silhouetted looks great. The pillar adds personality to the shot and the colors in the sky are awesome. If i were to do any editing to this picture it would be to add a silhouetted bird atop the pillar. Possibly wearing a sombrero?
